Words are the ultimate magic.
This is why being a bard in Dungeons and Dragons is the state of being someone with powers.
Historically, bards could make or break political leaders, could create or destroy legends.
Not much has changed, eh?
Those who write history control it, etc.
Now any Wild One who tells you spells are just words is making you pixieled. True spell-crafting, like prayer, is in the feelings and visualisation more than the words.
But the words create the conditions that enable the feelings and visions.
And one of the powers that the bard has, over everyone else, is a deep appreciation for etymology.
The bard knows that “anarchy” simply means “no leader”.
The bard knows that “heresy” simply means “to choose for oneself”.
And the bard knows that “courage” means “heart and spirit”.
I tell you this because when it comes to weaving magical experiences for your customers, sometimes you do have to be a heretic.
Sometimes you do have to go with your heart.
And sometimes you have to be an anarchist. In fact, anyone in any kind of structure who goes with his or her heart instead is by true definition an anarchist!
Heart is also about feelings, which loops us around:
Feel the feels.
See the outcome.
Then craft the content based on what lights up your fingers.
Running with your brain is more likely to result in trouble, because heart and instinct aren’t brain-based activities.
And neither is weaving a spell that works.
