The dogs are talkin’

The dogs are talkin’

Talk to me, talk to me
Tell me what ya gunna do.
Come to me, come to me
Are we gunna see it through?
So ya got a reputation –
Well, I do too!
All across the nation
There are Pixies hangin’ out to meet clients like you.

Apologies to Doc Neeson. Can you believe he’s been dead for seven years already?

What a huge loss to music.

The track reminds me of one of my friends whom we fondly refer to as ‘The International Gigolo’. On tour – no matter where in the world, whether Europe or the US – he’d always end up bedding an astonishing number of ladies.

One of them was a music journalist I know, and that’s how they got some mad coverage in an influential US-based magazine.

Pay for play just took on a new meaning, eh?

His bandmates hated it, cos he was always late for things.

But boy was it amusing!

I saw him in action one night, when we were all in Melbin for some show; Mayhem, it might have been. He spotted some birds in Maccas, and literally walked behind them talking to them, constantly. They were amused and they didn’t tell him to bugger off…

Content gets woven into marketing and sales as if they’re the only uses of the stuff (which they’re not, nooooo not by a long way). And most of the things that I see are still really talking about whether you’re badgering people.

Honestly. Are we not beyond this yet?

But I like The Angels’ kind of approach.

If we follow The Dogs are Talkin’, the method is quite simple:

  • get a conversation
  • find out what’s going on or not
  • ask for the sale
  • risk? Pfft risk
  • if you don’t want it, I ain’t gunna waste my time with you darlin’

In the world of your existing clients, it’s a bit more like:

  • g’day love
  • how’s it goin’
  • oh look what we did together mm hmmm
  • wanna go again?

You don’t have to pester people.

But it’s fun to see each other when the conversation and the interaction is where it’s got to be.

You can spend your life chasing after new clients and wearing them down, or you can turn around and look at the folks you’ve already had some fun with.

Discover what you might be able to do to level up your existing clients’ experience of you. Leave a message for me at and we’ll hook up for a chat.

No pressure. 😉
